From a t-shirt to a dress

While my sewing skills have grown, I've been a little gun-shy about clothing and have only made a couple of skirts for my daughter. But when I saw ways to use existing tees and add fabric to the bottom, I figured that would be a nice, gentle initiation into sewing dresses.

Since Grace's torso is a little long in proportion to her arms and so she often outgrows shirts sooner than I expect, this was a perfect way to use one of her long-sleeve tees.

I didn't write a tutorial since this was a total experiment, but here are the sources I used:

There are a couple of things I will do differently next time, including cutting the fabric a bit wider so that it's fuller, and making the bottom band a little shorter and possibly ruffling it if I don't do trim. But overall, it was a nice way to get my feet wet!
