I knew I wouldn't do cream, because from the start, my plan was for this room to be bright, colorful, and cheerful. You know, so that I would giddily anticipate folding clothes in there. Heh.
So the decor has been based around the colors in this valance:
I won't give instructions since Kierste does a great tutorial, but here are my paint colors in case anyone is interested.
Rust-o-leum American Accents, Green Apple
Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze
Krylon Cherry Red
Also, I remembered these mini chalkboards I had found new-in-the-package a few months ago at Goodwill.
Five--perfect! I decided to use them instead of numbers so that I could label the contents of the baskets.
So after painting, tying on some fabric, and attaching the chalkboards with hot glue, I lined up my cheerful baskets above the cupboards. (The cupboards that I keep going back and forth about painting. Hmm,)
(This one started out yellow, and then I changed my mind. Without a zoom lens, you can't really notice the first color peeking through like you can here. ;) Also, the Cherry Red paint would probably look different on an unpainted basket.)
I love these Chalk Ink markers that wipe off with water. So much crisper and neater than regular chalk. Michaels, 40%-off coupon.
I also found a couple of tins at a thrift store and garage sale that are perfect in here, sitting on the shelf under an old washboard.
Plus, a chippy bench for $1.
Now if I could just long to fold clothes as much as I longed to decorate this room...
:)
